This is the school room we visited while the children were home for lunch.
The water in the river was so black, it created beautiful mirrored images. The water looks like root beer. It is caused by the leaves and debris rotting and washing into the river. It is actually very healthy for washing hair.
The lily pads lined the river.
These canoes were so much fun!
Sister Hymas and I were just relaxin'
Monday night the crew lit this huge bonfire. The sparks were flying way up into the sky!
Another outstanding picture of the riverside.
The leaves of the Ite palm trees are used to make baskets. The young leaves are stripped and boiled in water to preserve the strength. They are dried in the sun and then are ready to weave into baskets, jewelry, other Ameri-Indian creations.
We went on a bird watching tour.
A hike into the rain forest ended in the viewing of this crashed airplane. The pilot survived and walked away.
These sweet people took such good care of us -- cooking and giving us tours of the countryside.
